Chef Taylor Mason was born and raised on the west side of Chicago. After graduation from Whitney Young High School, she went on to get her degree from Pepperdine University in Malibu, CA. It was in the hills of the Sunshine State where the passion for food ignited. Just as she was beginning to step foot through the culinary door, her mother had back-to-back brain aneurysms and Taylor opted to return home to Chicago. It was back in her hometown, arguably the mecca of delicious food, where she planted her culinary seed. She worked in various restaurants and her self-taught skills were honed by some of the best chefs in the city. In 2014, she prepared what would later be known as the first Taylor’s Taco. In 2016, she successfully launched her business of live-service catering at various events, festivals, and pop-ups throughout the midwest serving up tacos, nachos, and everything in between. It was her goal to change lives one bite at a time. She connected with The Bureau Bar & Restaurant owner, Kenny Johnson, to bring his vision of soul food with a twist an entirely unexpected meaning. The fusion of southwest and southern flavors is innovative, new, and necessary for the neighborhood… And as always, she looks forward to making your taste buds do the happy dance.
